ואתכנישו כל ישראל לות דוד לחברון למימר הא קריביך ובשרך אנחנא:

Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

אוף מאתמלי אוף מדקדמוי אוף כד הוה שאול מלכא את הויתא מפק יתנא לקרבא ומעיל יתנא לבית מדרשא ומליף ית ישראל ואמר יי אלהך לך אנת תהא סרכן ותשלוט על עמי ותפרנס ית ישראל ואנת תהא ארכון על עמי ישראל:
yshral emy el arkwn thha wanth yshral yth wthprns emy el wthshlwT srkn thha anth lk alhk yy wamr yshral yth wmlyp mdrsha lbyth ythna wmeyl lqrba ythna mpq hwytha ath mlka shawl hwh kd awp mdqdmwy awp mathmly awp
In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”

ואתו כל סבי ישראל לות מלכא לחברון וגזר להון דוד קים בחברון קדם יי ורביו יתיה למלכא על ישראל הי כפתגמא דיי דמליל על ידוי דשמואל:
dshmwal ydwy el dmlyl dyy kpthgma hy yshral el lmlka ythyh wrbyw yy qdm bkhbrwn qym dwd lhwn wgzr lkhbrwn mlka lwth yshral sby kl wathw
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh. They anointed David king over Israel, according to Yahweh’s word by Samuel.

ואזל דויד וכל ישראל ירושלם היא יבוס ותמן עד ההיא שעתא יבוסאי יתבי ארעא:
area ythby ybwsay shetha hhya ed wthmn ybws hya yrwshlm yshral wkl dwyd wazl
David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

ואמרו יתבי יבוס לדויד לא תיעול הלכא וכבש דוד ית חקרא דציון היא קרתא דדויד:
ddwyd qrtha hya dtsywn khqra yth dwd wkbsh hlka thyewl la ldwyd ybws ythby wamrw
The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is David’s city.

ואמר דויד כל דיקטול יבוסאה ויכבוש ית קרתא יתמני לרב חילא ולריש אוכלון וסליק בקדמיתא יואב בר צרויה והוה לריש חילא:
khyla lrysh whwh tsrwyh br ywab bqdmytha wslyq awklwn wlrysh khyla lrb ythmny qrtha yth wykbwsh ybwsah dyqTwl kl dwyd wamr
David had said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.

ויתיב דויד בחקרא בגין כן צוחין ליה קרתא דדויד:
ddwyd qrtha lyh tswkhyn kn bgyn bkhqra dwyd wythyb
David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it David’s city.

ובנא קרתא חזור חזור מן מלתיה ועד חזרנותא ויואב מפרנס ית שיור קרתא:
qrtha shywr yth mprns wywab khzrnwtha wed mlthyh mn khzwr khzwr qrtha wbna
He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

ואזל דוד אזיל וסגי ויי צבאות הוה בסעדיה:
bsedyh hwh tsbawth wyy wsgy azyl dwd wazl
David grew greater and greater, for Yahweh of Armies was with him.

ואלין רישי גבריא דהוו עם דוד דמתקפין עמיה במלכותיה עם ישראל לאמלכותיה הי כפתגמא דיי על ישראל:
yshral el dyy kpthgma hy lamlkwthyh yshral em bmlkwthyh emyh dmthqpyn dwd em dhww gbrya ryshy walyn
Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to Yahweh’s word concerning Israel.

ואלין סכומי גבריא דהוו עם דוד גברא ריש משריתא יתיב על כרסי דינא וכל נביא וחכימיא מקפין ליה מרבי במשח קודשא כד הוה נפק לקרבא הוה מסתיע מלעלא ובמתביה לאולפן אוריתא הות סלקת שמעתא אליביה בחיר ומפנק שפיר בריויה ויאה בחזויה בקי בחכמתא וסכלתן בעצתא גבר בגבורתא ריש מתיבתא בסים בקלא ורבן בשירתא וסרכן על כל גבריא והוא מתקן במאני זינא ונטיל מורניתיה דביה תלי אתא דטקס משרית יהודה ונפיק על פם קל רוחא דקודשא ונצח בקרבא ומתביב על ידא דמורניתא תלת מאה קטילין בזמנא חדא:

This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.

ובתרוי אלעזר בר דודו אחבוי בר אחוהי בתלתא גבריא:
gbrya bthltha akhwhy br akhbwy dwdw br alezr wbthrwy
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

הוא הוה עם דוד בפס דמים ופלשתאי אתכנישו תמן לסדרי קרבא והות אחסנת חקלא מליא עללתא פלגא טלופחין ופלגא סערין ועמא אפכו מן קדם פלשתאי:
plshthay qdm mn apkw wema seryn wplga Tlwpkhyn plga elltha mlya khqla akhsnth whwth qrba lsdry thmn athknyshw wplshthay dmym bps dwd em hwh hwa
He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

ואתעתדו במצעא אחסנתא ושיזבוהא וקטלו ית פלשתאי ופרק יי על ידיהון פורקנא רבא:
rba pwrqna ydyhwn el yy wprq plshthay yth wqTlw wshyzbwha akhsntha bmtsea wathethdw
They stood in the middle of the plot, defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.

ונחתו תלתא גבריא מן גברי רישי משריתא על טנרא לות דוד למערת עדלם ומשרית פלשתאי שריא במישר גבריא:
gbrya bmyshr shrya plshthay wmshryth edlm lmerth dwd lwth Tnra el mshrytha ryshy gbry mn gbrya thltha wnkhthw
Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

ודוד בכין הוה בחקרא ואיסטריג ואיסטרטיג פלשתאי בכין בבית לחם:
lkhm bbyth bkyn plshthay waysTrTyg waysTryg bkhqra hwh bkyn wdwd
David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem at that time.

וחמידת נפשא דדוד ואמר מאן ישקנני מיא מגובא דבית לחם די בתרעא:
bthrea dy lkhm dbyth mgwba mya yshqnny man wamr ddwd npsha wkhmydth
David longed, and said, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”

ואתגברו תלתא גבריא וצלחו להון ארחא במשרית פלשתאי ומלו מיא מגובא דבית לחם די בתרעא ונטלו ונסיבו ואתו לות דוד ולא צבא דוד למשתי יתהון ואמר לנסכא יתהון קדם יי:
yy qdm ythhwn lnska wamr ythhwn lmshthy dwd tsba wla dwd lwth wathw wnsybw wnTlw bthrea dy lkhm dbyth mgwba mya wmlw plshthay bmshryth arkha lhwn wtslkhw gbrya thltha wathgbrw
The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, took it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,

ואמר חס לי מן קדם יי מלמעבד דא אפשר כאלו אדמא דגבריא אלין אנא שתי דאזלו בסכנת נפשהון ארום חולף נפשהון איתיאונון ולא צבא למשתי יתהון אלין גבורתא עבדו תלתא גבריא:
gbrya thltha ebdw gbwrtha alyn ythhwn lmshthy tsba wla aythyawnwn npshhwn khwlp arwm npshhwn bsknth dazlw shthy ana alyn dgbrya adma kalw apshr da mlmebd yy qdm mn ly khs wamr
and said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.

ואבשי אחוי דיואב הוא ריש גבריא והוא מתביב ית מורניתיה על תלת מאה קטילין וליה שום בתלתא גבריא:
gbrya bthltha shwm wlyh qTylyn mah thlth el mwrnythyh yth mthbyb whwa gbrya rysh hwa dywab akhwy wabshy
Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.

מן תלתא אגב תרין הוה יקיר והוה להון לרבנא ולתלת גבורן לא מטא:
mTa la gbwrn wlthlth lrbna lhwn whwh yqyr hwh thryn agb thltha mn
Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain; however he wasn’t included in the three.

בניה בר יהוידע בר גבר דחיל חטאין וליה עובדין טבין מן קבצאל הוא קטל ית תרין רברבי מואב דהוון דמין לתרין אריון תקיפין הוא נחת וקטל ית אריוא במצע גובא ביומא דתלגא הוא הוה צדיקא רבא דלא הוה דיכמה לא במקדשא תנינא יומא חדא דחקת רגליה בחדרונא דמית ונחת לשילוח ותבר גזיזא דברדא וטבל וסליק ותנא ספרא דבי רב הוא ספרא דאורית כהניא ביומא זוטא דסתוא בעשרא יומין בירחא דטבת:
dTbth byrkha ywmyn beshra dsthwa zwTa bywma khnya dawryth spra hwa rb dby spra wthna wslyq wTbl dbrda gzyza wthbr lshylwkh wnkhth dmyth bkhdrwna rglyh dkhqth khda ywma thnyna bmqdsha la dykmh hwh dla rba tsdyqa hwh hwa dthlga bywma gwba bmtse arywa yth wqTl nkhth hwa thqypyn arywn lthryn dmyn dhwwn mwab rbrby thryn yth qTl hwa qbtsal mn Tbyn ewbdyn wlyh khTayn dkhyl gbr br yhwyde br bnyh
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.

והוא קטל גברא מצראה אנש דמשחתא חמשא אמין באמת מלך ובידא דמצראה מורניתא דסומכיה כאכסן דגרדאין ונחת לותיה בחוטרא ותקפיה ואנס ית מורניתא מן ידא דמצראה וקטליה במורניתיה:
bmwrnythyh wqTlyh dmtsrah yda mn mwrnytha yth wans wthqpyh bkhwTra lwthyh wnkhth dgrdayn kaksn dswmkyh mwrnytha dmtsrah wbyda mlk bamth amyn khmsha dmshkhtha ansh mtsrah gbra qTl whwa
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high. In the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.

אלין גבורתא עבד בניהו בר יהוידע וליה שום בתלתא גבריא:
gbrya bthltha shwm wlyh yhwyde br bnyhw ebd gbwrtha alyn
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things and had a name among the three mighty men.
25
מן גבריא תלתא אגב תרין הא הוא יקיר ולתלת לא מטא ומני יתיה דוד ריש מתיבתא על תלמידוי:
thlmydwy el mthybtha rysh dwd ythyh wmny mTa la wlthlth yqyr hwa ha thryn agb thltha gbrya mn
Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three; and David set him over his guard.

וגברי עבדי קרבא עשהאל אחוי דיואב אלחנן בר דודו דמן בית לחם:
lkhm byth dmn dwdw br alkhnn dywab akhwy eshhal qrba ebdy wgbry
The mighty men of the armies also include Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

עירא בר עקש דמן תקוע אביעזר דמן ענתות:
enthwth dmn abyezr thqwe dmn eqsh br eyra
Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,

סבכי דמן חשת עילי מדבית אחוח:
akhwkh mdbyth eyly khshth dmn sbky
Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

מהרי דמן נטופת חלד בר בענה דמן נטופת:
nTwpth dmn benh br khld nTwpth dmn mhry
Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,

אתי בר ריבי דמן גבעת בנימן בניה דמן פרעתון:
prethwn dmn bnyh bnymn gbeth dmn ryby br athy
Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,

חוריה דמן נחליא דגעש אביאל דמן ערבת:
erbth dmn abyal dgesh nkhlya dmn khwryh
Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33
עזמות דמן בחרום אליחבא דמן שעלבון:
shelbwn dmn alykhba bkhrwm dmn ezmwth
Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,

בני השם דמן גיזון יונתן בר שגה דמן הרר:
hrr dmn shgh br ywnthn gyzwn dmn hshm bny
the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shagee the Hararite,

אחיאם בר שכר דמן הרר אליפל בר אור:
awr br alypl hrr dmn shkr br akhyam
Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,

חפר דמן מכרת אחיה דמן פלון:
plwn dmn akhyh mkrth dmn khpr
Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

חצרו דמן כרמלא נערי בר אזבי:
azby br nery krmla dmn khtsrw
Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,

יואל אחוי דנתן מבחר בר הגרא:
hgra br mbkhr dnthn akhwy ywal
Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagri,

צלק דמן בני עמון נחרי דמן בארות נטלי זיני דיואב בר צרויה:
tsrwyh br dywab zyny nTly barwth dmn nkhry emwn bny dmn tslq
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite (the armor bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah),

עזיבא בר שיזא דמן שבטא ראובן ריש שבטא דראובן ועמיה תלתין גברין:
gbryn thlthyn wemyh drawbn shbTa rysh rawbn shbTa dmn shyza br ezyba
Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite (a chief of the Reubenites), and thirty with him,

חנן בר מעכה ויושפט דמן מתן:
mthn dmn wywshpT mekh br khnn
Hanan the son of Maacah, Joshaphat the Mithnite,

עזיא דמן עשתרות שמע ויעיאל בני חותם דמן ערוער:
erwer dmn khwthm bny wyeyal shme eshthrwth dmn ezya
Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,

ידיעאל בר שמרי ויוחא אחוי דמן תיץ:
thyts dmn akhwy wywkha shmry br ydyeal
Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46
אליאל דמן מחוא ויריבי ויושויה בני אלנעם ויתמה דמן בני מואב:
mwab bny dmn wythmh alnem bny wywshwyh wyryby mkhwa dmn alyal
Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
